The Daniel Island News Signs on as Presenting Sponsor for Fourth Consecutive Year
The Family Circle Tennis Center, Charleston’s premier public tennis facility, hosted a Tennis Block Party presented by The Daniel Island News to showcase its many tennis programs available for the whole family from 9:00am to noon on Saturday, August 8th, 2009. Growing the game of tennis has always been a top priority for the Family Circle Tennis Center, and this United States Tennis Association (USTA) backed initiative has been a proven catalyst for community growth throughout America’s public facilities. This premier event featured the newest tennis instructional techniques available today designed to introduce tennis in a fun and easy manner where everyone can quickly pick up the game and succeed at this sport of a lifetime.
Children and adults enjoyed a wide selection of free activities, designed for beginner to advanced players, beginning at 9:00am and continuing throughout the morning with music, games, tennis drills, contests, an adult tennis zone, “hit & get”, food, snacks, refreshments, and many other activities. In addition to this day of tennis fun, many complimentary raffles were held throughout the event offering over $2,500 in prizes including 2010 Family Circle Cup Box Seats, Darius Rucker & Friends concert tickets, Family Circle Cup autographed items, a Family Circle Tennis Center membership, Dunlop tennis racquets, Charleston Riverdogs & Charleston Battery tickets, and many more exciting prizes. The event concluded with a complimentary cook-out lunch at Noon.
