Daniel Island came alive with the multiple Grammy-winning rock sound of The Wallflowers who performed at the Family Circle Tennis Center’s Veranda stage on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 in Charleston, SC.
Mixing introspective singer-songwriter sensibilities with a commitment to genuine roots rock, The Wallflowers have released five studio albums, sold more than eight million copies of their catalog, topped the Billboard charts, scored a multiplatinum album, several Modern Rock hits, two Grammy® awards and a legion of fans. The Wallflowers are currently touring in support of their fifth studio album A Collection: 1996-2005, which features hit songs such as “One Headlight”, “6th Avenue Heartache”, “Three Marlenas”, “The Difference”, as well as unreleased tacks.
“The Wallflowers are the most prominent act to perform at The Veranda to date. Music fans of all ages are sure to enjoy the hits these superstars will crank out all night,” commented Carter McMillan, Concert Coordinator at the Family Circle Tennis Center. “This is a great opportunity to see a major act in a small venue, and there’s no better time to enjoy an outdoor concert than early fall.”
The Wallflowers consist of Greg Richling (bass) along with Jakob Dylan (vocals/guitar), Fred Eltringham (drums/vocals), and Stuart Mathis (guitar). With leader Jakob Dylan overseeing its production and compiling the track list, the 16-selection A Collection: 1996-2005 is the definitive look at a critically-acclaimed favorite of the past decade, whose tales of disillusionment and perseverance were wrapped in a sound both gritty and polished, melancholy and aggressive.
