Race:
Begins at 8:00am at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Saturday, October 18, 2008.
A Great Time for a Great Cause:
Serving as the Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure® host facility for the third consecutive year, the Family Circle Tennis Center is committed to making a difference in the fight against breast cancer. On a day where emotions run high and runners unite, this event goes the extra mile to make a significant impact as it brings together an entire community. It can be incredibly overwhelming to stand in a group of over 6,000 people, all wearing white and pink, each having been touched in some way by this disease, and to realize you’re all here together DOING SOMETHING about it!
This year, Family Circle Tennis Center staff members Liz Steiner, Kathy Molony and Margaret Shaw have volunteered as Team Leaders with a goal of bringing together over 300 runners who will combine to make a significant contribution at this year’s race on our team, “For Pink’s Sake”.
Run With Us:
Runners always have more fun in a group! If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of a running group, this is your chance to join a team that knows how to have fun before, during and after the race. Our team consists of runners of all ability levels, so you’re sure to find a running partner to enjoy the day with. If you’re running for the first time or going solo, why not join a team where you’re sure to make new friends as we support this important cause together? It won’t cost you any extra to run on our team, and we’d love to have you with us!
Team Benefits:
Running Captain – Margaret Shaw
Margaret will keep everyone informed via e-mail updates prior to race day and manage the entire team during the event so everyone is aware of team activities, allowing you to relax and focus on running the race!
Fundraising Bonus Prizes:
Our top individual fundraiser will win a pink IPod and 2nd place will receive a running outfit.
On-site post-race afterparty!
We’re throwing the only on-site post-race bash with food, beer, music and prizes in appreciation of our team who united to make a difference. Dewey Caulder, our resident Tennis Pro and Executive Chef, will prepare a legendary cookout spread for all to enjoy, and Tennis Center staff members will host a free raffle featuring great prizes including Family Circle Cup tickets and autographed memorabilia, LACOSTE clothing packages and more!
