Cup History: Nadia faced off against Patty Schnyder in a three set battle for the coveted 2006 singles title and a $196,900 payday, the largest purse in the history of this storied event. Nadia played her power game, which proved too strong for Schnyder and brought her to her first Tier I victory. The championship marked Nadia’s third Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title of 2006, and her second consecutive clay court tournament win, completing a sweep of the American claycourt series.

Career Overview: In 2001won first two Tour doubles titles. Reaching first Grand Slam SF at Roland Garros in 2003 at No.76 becoming third-lowest-ranked semifinalist there in event's history. In 2005, Petrova won first Tour singles title at Linz.  At the time was only player in Top 10 without a Tour singles title. Won 5 more Tour singles titles that following year of 2006. Was only sixth player in Tour history to complete American clay court sweep. Hascaptured 7 WTA Tour singles titles, along with 12 doubles titles.
