Martina Navratilova (1982-83, 1988, 1990)

Cup History: Martina would win the first of her four Family Circle Cup singles titles (1982-83, 1988,1990) in 1982. That year, she would be the second champion to win both the singles and doubles title in the same year, and in 1990 Martina would establish a tournament record that still stands today by winning her fourth double victory, combining singles and doubles.
Career Overview: Holds 167 singles titles, more than any man/woman player. Won at least one Tour event a year for 21 consecutive years. Holds 177 doubles titles, incl. seven won in 2003 and one won in 2004. Has won singles and doubles titles at same event 84 times to lead all players. Was ranked No. 1 for a total of 331 weeks on nine different occasions. Her Golden Run from December 21,1981 through January 24, 1987 saw her win 71 titles, 12 of 17 Grand Slam singles titles and 432 of 446 matches, losing only 14 matches to nine players. Holds record of 109 consecutive doubles matches won, dating from April 24, 1983 to July 6. Won first Tour title on September 22 at Orlando, unseeded, defeating Top 10 players No.2 seed Casals, No.3 seed Durr and No.4 seed Heldman in last three rounds. In 1982 became first woman (at that time) to pass $1 million in season earnings ($1,475,055).
In 1992 became oldest woman (36) to reach VS Championships. Also became first female athlete to surpassed $20 million in career prize money. In 2002 became oldest woman ever to win a Tour singles match at 45 years, eight months. Won 177th career Tour doubles title at Montreal in 2007 with Nadia Petrova. Finished career on winning note in 2007 with 354th professional title.
