O.A.R. Thrills Crowd at Family Circle Magazine Stadium

On a picturesque summer night, Daniel Island came alive with the high-impact rock-meets-reggae sound of O.A.R. (of a Revolution) and the nearly five thousand screaming fans who packed themselves into Family Circle Magazine Stadium. O.A.R. is a decade-old former college band with a deep fan base and unmistakable sound that quickly became a staple on college and alternative playlists in the late 1990’s and has enjoyed continued success ever since.

The August 5th show began at 7pm on the grounds of the Family Circle Tennis Center when Jack’s Mannequin took the stage to start the evening. Their fresh Venice Beach sound really connected with the crowd that was made up of people of all ages as they played a variety of songs from their new studio release “Everything in Transit”. Applause thundered from the audience as they finished their set and Jack McMahon thanked the crowd for their support, then O.A.R. made their way to the stage.

The crowd was on its feet sending thousands of camera flashes toward the stage as O.A.R. breathed life into their instruments and kicked off the show at 8:15pm with “Dareh Meyod”, an obvious favorite of many in attendance who sang along with every lyric. Not to skip a beat, front man Marc Roberge led the band right into “Wonderful Day”, which brought the crowd to an even higher energy level which the Rockville, Maryland band maintained throughout the show. Playing hit after hit such as “City on Down” and “Hey Girl”, covers “Fool in the Rain” (Led Zeppelin) and “Sunday Bloody Sunday” (U2), and mixing in songs from their new studio release “Stories of a Stranger” such as the current mega-hit “Love and Memories” and “Lay Down”, O.A.R. thrilled the crowd through the end of the show that concluded with “Night Shift”, a fitting song for the end of a great evening under the stars.
