After over 40 years of constant touring, Rock and Roll legends The Beach Boys continued their Hall of Fame career under the warm sun on Memorial Day on the grounds of the Family Circle Tennis Center. Their Sounds of Summer tour is in support of their 2006 Capitol Records release, Sounds of Summer (RIAA certified double platinum with over three million in sales and climbing), and marks a resurgence in Beach Boys interest that has again rocked the world.
The day began at 2:00pm under sunny skies as the crowds arrived to see their favorite band perform at its best on Memorial Day (Monday, May 29th, 2006). As the warm afternoon faded into a beautiful evening filled with the glow of the setting sun and relaxing melodies, thousands of adoring fans were treated to world-famous hits such as California Girls, Surfer Girl, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Little Deuce Coupe, Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, Surfin USA, Surfin Safari, Barbara Ann, Kokomo, and many more! Mike Love, founding member of the Beach Boys and veteran band member Bruce Johnston led the crowd through a journey of memories and good times as they performed over thirty songs spanning the many generations of great music from their extensive catalog of hits. As Mike and Bob performed with the 6-member Beach Boys Band, those in attendance were brought back to a time of youthful bliss as they danced in their seats and in the aisles of the stadium. Throughout the night, fans sang along to their favorite songs and enjoyed this wonderful event in Family Circle Magazine Stadium, the perfect intimate setting for any performance. As the encore was about to begin, the entire crowd stood on its feet cheering for more as it seemed as if the night would never end. After a few moments, The Beach Boys blasted out Kokomo as the crowd erupted in applause, and closed out the evening with Fun Fun Fun, two obvious crowd-favorite tunes.
