Tour Debut January 1999
Super Stats: Won her second career Sanex WTA Tour singles title earlier this year in Gold Coast, Australia. One week later won her third tour title in Canberra. Broke into the world’s Top 20 in January. In 2000 she burst onto the tennis scene by winning a title in Antwerp, Belgium. With that win she became the fifth player in the history of women’s tennis to win a tournament in her tour debut.

Personal: Father, Jose, travels with her on the tour. She has two older brothers and a younger sister and the whole family plays tennis. One of her superstitions is to avoid walking on the tennis court lines between points. Has been quoted as saying that she knew she wanted to be a tennis player since the age of 7.
