Ever wondered how it is determined what player Serena Williams or Jennifer Capriati will face in the first round of a tournament? There is a specific method that is used by the WTA Tour officials in determining who plays whom. On Saturday, April 10th at 3:00 p.m. at the Family Circle Magazine Stadium, fans will have an opportunity to see in person how this year's tournament draw will play out. Come out and see who the first round opponents will be for Justine, Serena, Venus, Lindsay and Jennifer. The 2004 Family Circle Cup will feature 16 of the Top 20 in the world. The tournament will be held April 10-18th at the Family Circle Tennis Center at Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina.
"We had a lot of fun with the inaugural Draw Party last year, and it was great to give our fans an opportunity to really be involved with helping finalize the draw for the week," commented Frankie Whelan, Executive Director of the Family Circle Cup. "It is a very interesting formula that the WTA Tour uses in order to determine the first round matches, and those fans who come out on Saturday will be the first to see how this year's tournament field will match up."
The 2004 Family Circle Cup Draw Party is free for fans of all ages. Some lucky fans will get an opportunity to be directly involved in this year's draw party by being a part of the draw process managed by the WTA Tour Director on site. Through the draw process they will be picking players locations on the draw. The 2004 Family Circle Cup will officially start on Saturday, April 10th with the qualifying draw. Matches will start at 10:00 a.m. and tickets only cost $10.00 per person. Qualifying rounds are a great opportunity to see some of the young up and comers on the WTA Tour. It is also a time to see some of the top players practicing prior to the start of main draw matches on Monday, April 12th
