Fan Fest Set to Kick-Off Tournament
Date: 4/5/2004

The 2004 Family Circle Cup "Fan Fest" event presented by Bed Bath & Beyond will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Monday, April 12th at the Mt. Pleasant Towne Centre in front of the Bed Bath & Beyond store. This annual event, hosted by former ATP Tour player Luke Jensen, is free to the public and will feature many top tennis stars like Venus Williams. While at the event, players will entertain questions from the crowd and be available for autograph sessions as well. As the first Tier 1 clay court event of the 2004 season, the Family Circle Cup will feature some of the top players in the world including Justine Henin-Hardenne, Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati and Venus Williams.

"Fan Fest allows everyone a chance to connect with the players off the court," stated Frankie Whelan, Executive Director of the Family Circle Cup. "It's the perfect way to personalize the Family Circle Cup experience."

"Fan Fest" has been a tournament highlight for the past nine years and it's easy to see why. During the event, the public is given a rare opportunity to ask questions of the players regarding their lives on and off the court. If "Fan Fest 2004" is anything like it has been in the past, we can expect highly entertaining and candid questions and responses. Luke Jensen will keep the pace moving and is certain to keep everyone on his or her toes.

Earlier in the day, Bed Bath & Beyond will also host a women's health fair centered on healthy living and wellness. "Game. Set. Health" event presented by Bed Bath & Beyond will take place from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 pm on Monday, April 12th at the Mt. Pleasant Towne Square in front of the Bed Bath & Beyond store. This celebration of Wellness & Healthy Lifestyles for Women and Families will include appearances by WTA Tour players, free health screenings, demonstrations on healthy living and much more. Trident Health System will be sponsoring the GE’s Women’s Health & Wellness Tour. The "Women's Wellness" unit, staffed by medical professionals from Trident Health System, will offer free health screenings to the community, including osteoporosis, blood pressure, heart disease and breast health screenings.

Mackenzie Clarke from Coast 92.5 will broadcast live at Mt. Pleasant Towne Centre during both events from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Tennis fans, autograph seekers, and families looking for a fantastic experience are encouraged to come out and see the stars of the WTA Tour.
