What better way to celebrate Charleston's love of food and art than to attend an event that features the best of both worlds? The second annual Art of Charleston Dining is meant to honor that cultural heritage by showcasing food from some of the finest restaurants in the city and art exhibits from top local galleries and artists. The event scheduled for Sunday, November 7th from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. will be held at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island.

Tournament Recap

After an interesting week of upsets, withdraws, and tight matches, the 2004 Family Circle Cup Finals have finished.  Four-time Grand Slam Champion Venus Williams has battled through the draw, and vanquished five strong opponents along her way to becoming the 2004 Family Circle Cup Champion!  This is Venus' first appearance in Charleston, and she's obviously made her mark on this city.  Venus became the fourth competitor to claim the title in their first appearance at the family Circle Cup.  She's been a fan favorite in every match she's played, and she's said that she plans to return next year.  Venus defeated Conchita Martinez, veteran champion, clay court master, and winner of 32 WTA Tour titles, in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.  Conchita has upset No. 8 seed Tatiana Panova and No. 11 seed Patty Schnyder on her road to this final.  This was Conchita's fourth appearance in the Finals of the Family Circle Cup.  Conchita was our champion in 1994 and 1995, and a finalist in 1992, and we congratulate her on her fine performance against Venus, and throughout the entire week.

It would've been impossible to predict this pairing, but for the dedicated fans who followed this tournament round-by-round, there couldn't be a better match-up.

The second match of this warm and sunny day featured top-notch doubles action.  Defending champion, and No. 1 seeded Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suarez repeated as champions, and claimed their third Family Circle Cup doubles title with a win over No. 2 seeded Martina Navratilova & Lisa Raymond in the 2004 Family Circle Cup Doubles Final, 6-4, 6-1.
